FREE Blood Splatter CGs/FX
A downloadable asset pack
I was really surprised when i was looking around for assets to use in The Skin You're In that I couldn't find any stock blood splatter cg/effects that really fit what I was looking for, and the vectors and premade brushes I managed to track down just really weren't enough.
I ended up making my own, and now I offer them unto you! The VN dev community has always been super giving and helpful, so I wanted to give back.
Included are 2 sizes of .pngs:
- "filename.png," which are 1280 x 750, so you can easily just drag and drop them straight into your VN directory.
- and "filename_big," which are sized at 2560 x 1440 (double the screen size of the default Ren'Py project.
Contents:
- Five 2560 x 1440 .png blood splatter images
- Five 1280 x 750 .png blood splatter images
- 1 Layered .PSD for ease of editing
- Attribution.txt, because I have been there and done that with looking in my folders and going "oh no, who made this, again?"

psd opened w/o any layers for me. this problem might or might not be on my end, can't afford photoshop and sometimes Paint.NET works for me and sometimes it doesn't
Sorry to hear that! The pack also contains a set of high resolution .pngs, which SHOULD be transparent…? (I’ll be honest, it’s been several years since I posted these, I’m not entirely sure. If not the case, let me know, I’d be more than happy to add them to the pack.)
I used clip studio paint’s “export to .psd” function, simply bc most programs with layer editing have the ability to open them…but again, it was a few years ago, and I only checked opening it in a few other programs; It’s possible the .PSD legacy formatting has changed since. What other layered file formats does Paint.Net use?
As mentioned, I’d be more than happy to add other formats if it helps people. ☺️

Yeah the PNGs all have a solid black background for me (and I think probably for everybody). Fortunately, my fuzzy select tool was kind to me and it was easy enough to crop out the black background and I was still able to use the assets. This is what I've been cooking with them, if you're curious:

Like I said, I cooked these up over 3 years ago, but thank you for reminding me that I uploaded a black BG on them…I’ll see if I can dig up the old files and upload transparent versions in the near future. I’m glad the select tool worked out, at least!
